vegetarianism – eating disorder feedback

i recently put up a blog piece, asking for people’s feedback about their own experiences with vegetarianism and eating disorders. i also mentioned it in my latest psychology today blog piece “what’s the link between eating disorders and vegetarianism?” additionally, i queried people via one of the best query sites i know.

the feedback has been wonderful. people have shared their experiences with me and a few things it shows me is:

  1. people have such great, interesting, insightful stories to share (you know me – i think of most of life’s experiences as stories)
  2. while it’s an honor that people have opened themselves up, it is a responsibility.  it’s a responsibility to represent them accurately and try to the best of my ability to not put my slant on what they’ve shared
  3. i’m incredibly grateful for others’ feedback

i have committed to everyone that i would honor their confidentiality, and i feel honored that, despite people not personally knowing me, they’ve opened up and shared, and i will completely honor that commitment. there are some people who have explicitly said that i can share their name, which i might here in the near future. that said, unless someone has explicitly expressed “enthusiasm” (for lack of a better word) about me sharing about them, i am going to keep it anonymous.

point being, for each person who has anonymously shared their experience, while i am not noting you by name, i am very, very grateful.
