rollerbladin’

yesterday i tried out a pair of rollerblades for the first time in close to 20 years. i geared myself up – rollerblades, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist pads.  i would’ve put on a helmet too but go figure – a woman’s xl didn’t fit my head – at all!  nonetheless, i tried to skate in the backyard. my dog wasn’t sure what the heck was going on so he did what he could which was growl, hop around, and try to bite my wheels (i had to nip that in the bud very quickly).

so i’ve heard the recent report that 48% of black females have herpes.  at first, i didn’t pay it much mind. another stat to basically show that black females aren’t taking care of themselves. over it, i thought. but after hearing more about it and reading others’ commentary, i’ve considered it a little more.

a size by any other name

so, i clicked and skimmed this article on a model who increased her weight and the industrial effects of that (yeah, i know better). it was somewhat interesting, though, which is why i’m putting it here (in traditional adia form, i’ve eliminated numbers and specific behaviors). i like it because it calls out the b.s. of the fashion industry.

every time i find out that some skinny celebrity has died via cardiac arrest, i often think the same thing:

did she die from complications of an eating disorder?

after all, cardiac arrest is a frequent result of eating disorders

safe (weight) call

i’m in the doctor’s office, getting my finger checked out.  the nurse, who i really like, was looking at my chart and i happened to look over and saw what looked like my height and then my weight.  i saw a number beside each of them and almost f-reaked out.
