i’m pretty messed up. i’ve been pretty messed up for a couple of days.
before i seem like i’m purposely trying to have a sensational title, let me explain:
i ran into a picture of a girl who died in the bathroom. body slumped on the floor, tailbone prominent, stomach distended, left arm completely in the toilet, right side of her body totally bruised, toes locked up in apparent rigor mortis.

a few minutes after I heard that steve jobs died, I called my mom to tell her. “oh, wow,” she responded. “wow. wow.” she had to get off the phone shortly thereafter, but she called me back later.
i said to her, “did you hear fred shuttlesworth died?” ( Read more )

when i heard about the troy davis case, i was sad but not particularly moved. after all, people are executed often, unfortunately, and i’ve never stopped it before, so why “waste energy” now?
so to really discuss my feelings about capital punishment, i am conflicted (as i am with many issues). ( Read more )

I heard today that Amy Winehouse died. When I first heard about Amy Winehouse was when she’d made a rendition of ‘Moody’s Mood for Love’. So I grew up with that song, ‘F**k Me Pumps’, and more. Then, a little later I hear this new album, ‘Back to Black’, where she’s doing a song called ‘Rehab.’
By this time, I’d already heard about her rehab issues. ( Read more )

i want to dive into my normal after-work news redux, but i need to type this or else i won’t get it out.
i was just listening to kfax, a christian radio station. the host, craig roberts, was talking to a guest about the cross on the property case that was in front of the supreme court today. now, i haven’t read the particulars about the case but i saw a headline about it in huffington post. i have no problem with the cross being there. i don’t see why someone who’s no longer an employee at the now-national preserve wants to sue over it (“person, you don’t even work there any more; get over yourself”).
that said, the guest on the show started talking about the persecution of christians in the united states. that was the first thing to piss me off.
the next thing was when he was talking basically about the erosion of our society, freedom of church and state, etc. being caused by leftists and secularists. ( Read more )
