i made a booboo.

it’s all my mom’s fault.

she said she wanted a particular red handbag from calvin klein. i went on the site and next thing you know, i spent a couple hundred – on clothes for myself (sorry, mom, couldn’t find the bag)!

my computer isn’t working!

yes, I think that is worthy of an exclamation point.

for all intents and purposes, my computer isn’t working, meaning the battery is charged but it won’t turn on.

for normal folks, this might not be a big deal, but I use my computer for:

  • writing and editing pieces (like the last draft of this ridiculously late vegetarianism essay)
  • surfing the internet
  • my sole source of tv

in other words, with my computer out of commission, i’m missing my primary methods of writing, news-gathering, and frivolous entertainment. ( Read more )

duplicate book beginnings

i started writing the introduction to my eating disorder book about seven years ago. mind you, i hadn’t started organizing my writing at all, and I had more than half to write still, but i wanted to tackle the into. i’d come up with a book title and an opening sentence that i thought were brilliant. i used that to delve into the rest of the introduction. i wrote, refined, wrote, refined, wrote and refined some more. imagine my shock when a couple years later, someone published a book with a very similar title.
