okay, technically it’s on essence(.com), but that’s apples and oranges.  speaking of food, that’s what my piece is about:

Is there a connection between Black History Month and National Eating Disorders Awareness Week? For me, there is. I am Black and have spent years struggling with disordered eating. Let me share my process of accepting these two areas of my life.

changed the name: adia’s notes

i changed the name of this blog from “adia colar • a writer’s blog” to “• adia’s notes •”.  why? because it more succint.  i guess i figured if i’m already changing the design of this blog, it’s apropos to change the name as well.

a size by any other name

so, i clicked and skimmed this article on a model who increased her weight and the industrial effects of that (yeah, i know better). it was somewhat interesting, though, which is why i’m putting it here (in traditional adia form, i’ve eliminated numbers and specific behaviors). i like it because it calls out the b.s. of the fashion industry.

finally!

binge eating disorder and self-mutilation are going to be classified as official mental disorders in the new DSM (to be released in 2013).  i’ll share my thoughts about it later.
